Early Life

Al Franken was born to parents, Joseph and Phoebe Franken, in New York City, USA. Both of his parents were well settled and lived a satisfactory life; his mother worked as a real estate agent, and his father was a printing salesman. While his mother’s grandfather belonged to Grodno (Russian Empire) before moving to the States, his father’s grandfather, too, wasn’t from NYC; he emigrated from Germany.
